    Incredible Lao food with good service and a rich cultural interior. First time having Lao food, but the waiter was very informative and gave comparisons to more common Thai or viet food, as well as recommended more unique options. Definitely itching to go back

    One of my favorite DC restaurants. My family always asks to go here when they're in town. The food has unique, powerful flavors. We love the pork jerky and the crispy tofu. Service is good and my only complaint is that the restaurant is often loud -- the price of success!

    Heard a lot of great things about this place and def had to try in DC. We never had Laos food but quickly realized that it is kind of similar to Thai food. Ordered shrimp Kua Mee (4.5/5) tasted just like pad thai Ordered Khao Soi (3/5) with chicken. Loved the curry but not the noodle. It was over cooked and wasnt grabbing the curry well. Thai version of khao soi normally uses egg noodle which i think is better. Very casual ambiance and food came out fairly quickly. Def a must try when you come to DC!!

    Thip Khao Review: Great Unique Laotian Food in the City Thip Khao offers great and unique Laotian food in the city. We had the Piing (Chicken Skewers Marinated and Grilled with Lemongrass, Ginger, Fermented Fish, Spicy Toasted Rice Sauce) and the Chuenh Paa Sa Moun Pai (Crispy Catfish with Spicy Fish Sauce, Lemongrass, Mint, Cilantro, and Fried Shallot). Both dishes were flavorful and beautifully prepared. The service was great, and they took really good care of us, helping with any questions on the menu. The atmosphere is elegant but casual, and the restaurant was pretty filled. If you're looking to try something different and delicious, Thip Khao is an excellent choice.
